Checking In!

So, I tried emailing my post yesterday with no luck. Well, I was trying to send an email from my blackberry using my gmail account to the skinny blog. I am already confused. I was going to let technology decide whether or not I would confess my carrot cake sins but since it didn't go through I thought that I would confess away. Pew had it's holiday luncheon on Thursday. I tried to be good - I did stay away from bread - but the carrot cake got me: on Thursday AND Friday. Other than thank, I am doing really well as far as food goes- wait, except for the pepperoni stromboli I ate last night for dinner (only ate a little bit though!). sigh. Been really trying to stick to the first phase of The Best Life Diet as prescribed by Mr. Bob Greene. Been diligent about eating breakfast and taking my vitamins. Trying to stop eating 2 hours before bed, cutting out the alcohol, and trying to ramp up my activity.

Went to the gym on Wednesday night and it seriously kicked my ass. I usually go to level 1/2 or 2/3 classes - this was a 3/4. Our trainer made us do these crazy exercises where you balance your neck, head and shoulders on a pilates ball with your legs and butt stabilizing and balancing you. With a weight bar your arms are extended to the ceiling and then you lower the weight above your head with the arms straight. Oh my god - my triceps hurt so bad that i was unable to go back to the gym on Thursday which was the only other day that I was going to be able to squeeze the gym in. Boo. Gotta try to get more exercise at home without the gym - since my gym is all classes and I can only got at certain times - it makes it really difficult to go when I want to go. This weekend I must do something active - it's just so hard when you don't have someone there to push you!!!

I'm all about having somebody else tell you what to do. Why else would you balance on the ball and hold a weight? I sure as hell am not going to do it on my own. Sometimes you can't get to the gym. If you were too sore you needed to give your muscles a rest. You've got more of a chance of continuing a healthy lifestyle if you take care of yourself along the way.

Having someone to support you is so helpful. So let's help each other! Shall we try for a walk or bike ride this weekend? It might be cold, but we could bundle up. ( I would need to borrow a bike) but we could do the loop on Kelly Drive.

I would love to try to get some group exercising in - even going out to Wissahickon would be nice. Sadly, I am away this weekend so I can't! Boo!
